I have just spent the last 12 hours reading Harold’s letters from beginning to end. I felt that I began to know him and truly appreciate your sharing of his letters.
Only wish that I had “seen” his homecoming.

I’m glad you got the essence of my dad thru his letters. He was a gentle man, always cared about his family back home, and so descriptive in his letters, that I felt I was almost ‘there’ at times. I can only imagine how his mother felt as she opened and read each letter he sent home. I wish too that he had written more about his homecoming. What a joy that must have been!

    Lori,
. Just finished all the Moss letters tonight. Started yesterday afternoon and could not put them down. Really miss all from the greatest generation. Harold writes so beautifully and with such controlled passion. So many of us forget how much they sacrificed for this great country and all the little daily “ things” we take for granted. Thank you for sharing these keepsakes with all of us, God Bless America and the Moss family.

Thank you for reading dad’s letters. I am so thankful for the insight he gave me into the life of a soldier at war. I can’t imagine the roller coaster of emotions that they endured. Throughout his four war years, he remained proud of his family and country. In his last years dealing with Alzheimers, they encourage you to share old photo albums. When I brought his mother’s album of war photos, the memories were too painful for him. With every photo there were stories that he had repressed for 50 years and it was evident that he couldn’t face the reminders. To the men and women who are fighting abroad today, on our behalf, I am grateful for your sacrifice. You are in my prayers. You are my hero. Dad is my hero too.
