You are correct–thank you! Researching Army cemeteries in Okinawa in the Ryukyus, I immediately recognized it as the 7th Division Cemetery by the distinctive flag pole at the entrance.
I have been looking for this photo for years. The 7th I.D. really caught hell on Okinawa but you don’t here anything about it, only the Marines. Thank You;KK
I have an original of that picture. I also have the cemetery at Ie Shima
I also have several of Ie Shima taken by my father but I have no idea what is happening. They are old and faded. My father was an army engineer who laid airstrip at Ie Shima, Aitutaki and Christmas Island. I have photos but no real knowledge what they represent. One photo has some Japanese soldiers shaking hands with American soldiers.
I am in the process of scanning these photos and would be happy to share them if anyone were interested or able to identify them.
Hello, I am a relative of Erwin Hynek Rybníček who was 1st Lieutenant in 96th Division 363rd Field Artylery Bn. in Okinawa 1945, I would like to ask here if you know where exactly is the cemetery of 96th Division and if so where was this unit located.
I would be very grateful for any information about this unit.
I have a picture of this cemetery it says 7th division Cemetery and below it 1945. It was in amongst pictures my dad had from 1945. My father served in the Army 152 Cor Engineers Combat Battalion WWII in Okinawa. I am please to finally find where this picture was taken and to further prove my father was actually in Okinawa.
